Marshall University Nearing Start Of $95 Million In Construction Projects

Marshall University’s campus is about ready to undergo a $95 million expansion. Planning is now in the final stages and construction is scheduled to begin in the coming months on projects that include more student housing and a new health and wellness center. The health and wellness center, as it is planned, will contain a small swimming pool, running track, three to four gymnasiums and exercise rooms. The student housing projects call for two new housing facilities -- with around 780 beds between the two of them. Groundbreaking for the new wellness center should take place this summer, wth completion expected by the end of the year. Work the residence hall construction may start in May or June. Those facilities should be completed by August of 2008, in time for students to move in before the fall semester begins.
